Course Description

This seminar explores the need for civility in the legal profession and the steps we all can take in our practice to promote a more civil discourse.

This course includes video recorded from the Washington County Bar Association's 2021 Winter Bench Bar.

This course contains approximately 60 minutes of content, all of which is required for course completion.

Your certificate of completion will be issued automatically after all elements of the course have been viewed/completed.  Credits will be reported to the CLE Board within 30 days of your completion of the course and your completion date will be reported as the day on which you actually finished the course.

Minimum System Requirements:

This course includes downloads of PDF documents (Portable Document Format) and streaming video. Viewing the documents will require Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF viewing software.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is available for free from the Adobe website.

The video player will run on Mac OS, Windows and Linux as well as most mobile devices and tablets on any browser that supports Adobe Flash and/or HTML5.  Supported browsers include Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer 9,10,11, and Microsoft Edge.  Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on Windows XP for security reasons, but is supported on Windows 7 or higher operating systems.

An internet connection with a minimum speed of 768 kilobits per second is required.  At least 5MB/sec is recommended to stream video in full HD quality.  Please note that the video player may downgrade the quality of the video to accommodate lower connection speeds.

    Rachel Lozosky, Esq., is a Partner with Peacock Keller. She concentrates her practice upon education and employment law. She serves as solicitor for numerous public school districts, providing counsel on a wide variety of issues including personnel matters, student discipline, labor relations, special education, policy development, and compliance with Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law.

    Ms. Lozosky also represents public school districts throughout the greater Pittsburgh region through Peacock Keller’s position as an approved defense firm with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association Insurance Trust. In that role, Ms. Lozosky has defended public school districts in special education due process hearings, as well as advised districts in the earlier stages of programming and placement disputes, in order to assist in successful prevention of escalation to due process hearings.

    Ms. Lozosky also represents private companies and non-profit entities in employment law matters, including employee discipline, hiring and termination, and counsels these clients regarding compliance with myriad employment laws including the Family and Medical Leave Act, COBRA and federal and state anti-discrimination laws. In addition, Ms. Lozosky represents employees in issues including review and drafting of severance and non-compete agreements, unemployment compensation appeals, and discrimination actions.

    Mike Pecosh, M.Ed., NCC, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in individual, couples, and anger management therapy in private practice in Washington, PA 15301. He and his wife founded PCC in 2010. Mike has been a therapist in Washington since 2005. Known for his great humor, he specializes in helping clients help themselves. Mike is currently working with a broad spectrum of clients.

    Mike is an interactive, cognitive behavioral therapist. His therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. He integrates humor and storytelling to keep each session from getting too serious or boring. With compassion and understanding, he works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. He lives in Washington, PA with his wife, Lindsay.
